Why We Write User Stories

Tuesday, September 12, 2017 -
6:00pm to 8:00pm

As a business analyst or developer, chances are you’ve either written or developed against user stories. “As a [user], I want to…, So that I can…” We know how it’s done, but we may not know why. During this Beyond the Blog, we’ll look at how influences like personalization, a transient workforce, and the need to show speed to value affect how we gather requirements, and why writing user stories is just the beginning of understanding and developing a great product.

Speaker:   Sarah Jones, Sr. Business Analyst, PSM1 at DMI

During graduate school, Sarah Jones learned there are plenty of opportunities to be a strong communicator in an IT world, and she's passionate about simply finding better ways to share information. Whether it's collaboration over written documentation, more visuals and less written description, or smaller, more concise user stories - there are plenty of opportunities to hone our skills in Requirements Management.

Sarah has a Master's in Information and Communication Sciences and a Bachelor's in Journalism from Ball State University. She's passionate about asking good questions, writing, reading, leadership, and jogging.
